Our community partner Lake – Sumter EMS is holding an Immunization Team Member Training class for all MRC volunteers who are certified RN’s, LPN’s, Paramedics, or Physician’s. The Training is free! The class will be held September8 2011 6pm to 8pm at LASER. Classroom B. The class is limited, so please RSVP!! me at gailhcktt@gmail.com

Volunteer Training – Mass Dispensing Exercise June 2011

A mass dispensing exercise ( POD ) was held on June 28, 2011 at Lake Receptions. LASER partnered with Lake County Health Department, Lake – Sumter EMS and The Medical Reserve Corp volunteers to exercise response times and capabilities to a public health crisis in Lake County. Approxamitely 13 MRC volunteers participated in the exercise, and added very valuable input as well as feedback . This exercise was a great opportunity for us to test and improve our response to better serve our community. Lake County Fair 2011

LASER would like to send a message of thanks and support to the public safety agencies in conjunction with Lake-Sumter EMS and the Medical Reserve Corp ( MRC ) that participated at 90th Annual Lake County Fair. Lake-Sumter EMS and related public safety agencies formed a unified command to coordinate and organize the public safety response to this years fair. EMS and MRC professionals provided a mobile response unit to assist medical request for aid during the ten day operational period. Thank You for all you do in keeping our community safe. 2010 13th Annual $1 Million Giveaway To Fight Hunger

For the 13th consecutive year, Alan Shawn Feinstein will divide $1 Million among anti-hunger agencies nationwide using it as a spur to raise funds during March and April 2010.

Donations or pledges made directly to LASER for Kids Against Hunger during the months of March 1st to April 30th, from use of this Feinstein challenge, can be counted. YOUR DOLLAR WILL MAKE A DOUBLE DIFFERENCE in the fight against hunger! Donations can be made to LASER in the form of cash, check or credit card at the LASER office or by clicking on “donate now” on our website.

Morrison UMC “Kids Against Hunger – LASER” Event, Leesburg FL

Morrison United Methodist Church is hosting a “Kids Against Hunger” event to package 40,000 meals designed to assist in world hunger. The event will be held Saturday, March 20th from 10am – 2pm at the Morrison UMC gymnasium. Expected volunteers range to 300 in number.

The food packaged during this event will be distributed to International Childrens Rescue Ministries in Haiti and to those in need in our own neighboring community of Immokalee, Florida.
